Not Bad at All

Posted by: Steph on April 17th, 2007

My surgery went quite well. It was a bit longer than I had anticipated - I foolishly thought that my two-for-one deal would only take about a half an hour. But I was out for almost two hours. I don’t have an official report yet, but I did get to look at some totally nifty […]

Lagoon Classic Update

Posted by: Steph on April 17th, 2007

Before I headed off to surgery, I took the picture below at 7:15 AM this morning just as the sun was rising. The “ice” you see behind Tyge is actually not Lagoon Ice but instead is early morning thin ice on top of about of foot of water that is turn resting on top of […]

Under the Knife

Posted by: Steph on April 16th, 2007

Tomorrow, bright and early, I’m getting the two-for-one special at Providence Hospital. I’ll be on the DL for the next several days. The surgeries aren’t major but they’re enough that some convalescence time will be required. Unfortunately, the whole convalescing thing will be a bit of a challenge. The first part of the surgery involves […]

It’s the 6th(!) Annual Westchester Lagoon Ice Classic!!!!

Posted by: Steph on April 16th, 2007

Tyge at Westchester Lagoon the morning of April 13,2007 (As I post this, three days later, there is quite a bit more water on top of the ice)
Another long winter is behind us. The smell of thawing dog doo is in the air. That can mean only one thing! It’s time for the Westchester […]

Alaska Quarter Design Finalists

Posted by: Steph on April 11th, 2007

The finalists in the Alaska Quarter Design competition have been published. The governor will select the final design later this month. In the meantime, we get to vote and comment on our favorite. I voted for the Polar Bear. My comments are below:
I think both AK-1 and AK-2 are the two most uniquely Alaskan designs. […]

Fire Him

Posted by: Steph on April 11th, 2007

As far as I’m concerned, Don Imus should be fired. If he retains his job, it’s quite clear that CBS and MSNBC don’t get it.
So - why do I feel so strongly about this? Imus is picking on 18, 19, and 20 year olds. Kids. His statement was just flat out cruel and so […]

Web Economy Bull Fecal Matter Generator

Posted by: Steph on April 11th, 2007

O.K. - via Isaac, this little phrase generator is pretty darn funny. Even though its geek quotient is pretty high, I think the average normal person might also find it amusing.
My first phrase was: “enable web-enabled relationships”.

A Real Moonrise Photo

Posted by: Steph on April 10th, 2007

I’ve received tons of compliments on my moonrise photo. It’s an o.k. shot. But not even on the same planet as the shot below. One of my co-worker friends (our CAO) is a very accomplished photographer and the picture below is a photograph of one of his photographs hanging on a wall at work.
Now […]

It’s a Deep Freeze!!!!!

Posted by: Steph on April 9th, 2007

At this very nano second, both of my fantasy baseball teams are in first place. The Arctic Wool Sox and the Bosmos are sittin’ in the high spot.
Again - this won’t last long. The Wool Sox spent the weekend in second place and the Bosmos were as low as 6th. The season is so young, […]

An Easter Morning Moose

Posted by: Steph on April 8th, 2007

A moose here. A moose there. Moose everywhere. Our house has been moose central for the past week. Now that we’re finally moving into breakup, the snow pack has gone down a tad. As a result, all of our delectable trees and greens are somewhat more accessible to the ungulate population.
This morning, this guy stopped […]
