The Alaska Bribery/Extortion Indictments Continue
Even though I’m here in Vegas, I’m closely watching the whole legislature bribery/extortion scandal. Yesterday, Bill Allen and Rick Smith of Veco pled out. I never ever thought I’d see Bill Allen go to jail. I figured he was flat untouchable.
Here’s a fun little exchange between Bill Allen and former Speaker of the State House, Pete Kott:
In May, Kott told Allen in Suite 604 that he succeeded in defeating a tax amendment Allen opposed. “I had to get ’er done,” Kott was quoted as saying. “I had to cheat, steal, beg, borrow and lie.” Allen’s response to Kott: “I own your ass.”
What is really galling and insulting is the cheap cost of the bribed legislators. Tom Anderson went for $12,000 - which I thought was ridiculously low. But the latest round of indictments indicate that Vic Kohring may have sold his soul for as little as $2000. Good grief. At that price, we should all be able to buy our own legislator.
And speaking of which - here’s a very funny video “Buy Back Alaska”.
Hello. I am
Funny- I found that video last night and blogged it too!
It is hilarious.
The idiocy of it all makes you wonder…

So…
Why didn’t you get in there with your own bribe to stop the bridge?
