A Glorious Summer Day

Wow! It doesn’t get much better than today. Especially for us sun and summer starved Alaskans. The official high was 73 degrees - which may not sound like much to folks elsewhere, but for us it’s a really big deal. Summer, sun, warmth, everything. Downtown Anchorage was packed: Summer Solstice Festival, Juneteenth, three cruise ships in dock, etc. Tonight, after the Ski Boy, Pooh and myself had an exquisite dinner at Sack’s, we stopped by Skinny Raven to replace one of my geocaches, Little Pictures, that had been muggled (geospeak describing a cache that has been stolen). There were at least a hundred people gathering for the start of the Skinny Raven Twilight 12K. It was tough to surreptitiously place the cache, but I was successful! And everyone was having such a good time on a such fabulous evening. And by the way “Twilight” is a misnomer. This being Alaska just 5 days before the Summer Solstice, the sun was high and bright in the sky.

Here’s a shot of my fabulous Big Eye Tuna dinner. I think it looks like a modern sculpture. And boy was it good! Sack’s definitely rules.
