Anniversary Trek
Saturday was glorious. So, Peter, Tyge and myself decided to celebrate the first anniversary of the Slat Rat-Ski Boy nuptials by doing an epic hike-geocaching expedition up Arctic Valley and Mt. Gordon Lyon.
We were rewarded with one of our best outings ever. Although, it was sooooo hot. And I did not bring enough water. The happiest moment in the entire hike was Tyge doing a full body immersion in the creek on the way down. Poor Tyge just broiled in his fur coat.
There weren’t too many people on the trail for the first few hours. However, as it turns out, that just about everyone we did see, we knew. Anchorage is such a small town…
Our trek lasted about four hours and by the time we returned home, we were starving. Fortunately, the Ski Boy and made reservations at the Marx Brothers and we had one of our best all time ever dinners. Hmmmm….The table side Ceasar salad, the fresh silver salmon en papillote, and the best wine I’ve had in several years: The 1991 Diamond Creek Gravelly Meadow. It was orgasmically good. Rich earthy overtones with spice, velvet smooth texture, and no overt oak getting in the way of the taste of a fabulous wine.
What a perfect day!!!!!!
The Ski Boy, Slat Rat, and Tyge atop Mt. Gordon Lyon. The mountain in the haze off my left shoulder is Denali. Our good buddies, Scott and Jane (one of the couples we bumped into on the hike) took this shot. This could be our 2007 Christmas Card picture.
The three of us at the saddle. A couple from BC, Canada took the picture for us.
Tyge and Peter taking a break on the way up the trail to Mt. Gordon Lyon. Peter was checking the Red Sox score.
Woody the travel bug on top of Clemmie’s cache. Tyge is also in the picture. However, he was so hot that he buried himself under the tree. If you look in the lower right, you can see his blond fur and right next the cache you can see his black button nose.

Hello. I am
I don’t know whether to be more green with envy over the Marx Brothers visit or the spectacular geocaching trip. Nah, Marx Brothers wins, hands down. I can cache down here, but no other restaurant can compare on the tableside caesar category. Call me verde.
Hmmm. Sounds like an amazing anniversary trek! I can’t compete. I had an anniversary nap.
Happy Anniversary to you both, hard to believe it’s already been a year.
