Discouraging Results on the Radiohead Web Experiment

I was very excited by Radiohead’s In Rainbows “pay what you want” download experiment. I paid about $12 which was a bit high, but I really wanted to support their efforts. However, evidently, only about 35% of us wanted to support Radiohead’s efforts in any manner. Everyone else downloaded the album for free.

That’s just so wrong. I hate the RIAA with a passion. However, one should pay for one’s copy of the music. And this experiment makes it look as if the RIAA has been right all these years. Which, I firmly believe is not the case. But the subject now becomes much more difficult to argue.

BTW - the album itself, In Rainbows, is really quite wonderful. Well worth my $12!

Is the album still available for download?

  2. Steph responds:

Yup!!!! Some of the commentary I’ve heard is that the pay vs. free ratio might change the longer the album is available.

  3. Leland responds:

    Can’t find it, got link?

  4. Steph responds:

Ah - it’s on their In Rainbows web site: http://www.inrainbows.com/
