Deployment Fun
As I type, it’s 2:40 AM. Anyone who is even slightly acquainted with me, knows that 2:40 AM and the Slat Rat are mutually exclusive.
However, we’re in the midst of a huge company-wide project and I was drafted into the IT Deployment Manager role (they were scraping the bottom of the barrel when they got me). Tonight, er - this morning, is the first of multiple deployments over the next three months. I have to admit, it is kind of fun - in a warped all-nighter sort of way.
All I can say is things have come a long way in the past eight years. Y2K was the last all-nighter I pulled on the deployment front. Back then there was no IM, conference bridges were uncommon and reliable high speed internet was rare. Fast forward to 2008, I’m sitting at home in my pj’s, IM’ing, Twittering, and emailing away with my project gang who are spread out amongst Anchorage and Seattle. Definite improvement!
The one toughie is that Peter and I are getting on a plane at 6:00 AM. There’s a bit of a suckage component on that one. However, we are going to Sun Valley for the 9th Judicial Circuit conference. So, that’s not so bad. And it will be warm and sunny. Today’s high was 55 degrees and it poured all day long. We are definitely nailing down the record for the coldest summer ever recorded in Anchorage.
Hello. I am
This is what they call global warming.
