My Elk Picture
Here’s the picture I took on Sunday. I originally thought my guy was a deer, a really big deer. But after pouring over pictures of white-tailed and mule deer, my guy just wasn’t matching up. It finally dawned on me to check out Elk. Voila! I think this is the first time, I’ve ever seen an elk. I’m quite pleased.
My elk shots were also the first batch of pictures that I processed on my Mac. I definitely like Photoshop in the Mac environment - it’s much faster. The commands are all the same, but the look is a bit sleeker. And the performance is definitely speedy.
I do NOT like iphoto. What a pain. If you edit a photo and want to save it under a different, perhaps more meaningful name than img_2997, iphoto doesn’t know about it - you have to reimport it. If you want to peruse your photos in a straight directory format - maybe doing some moving around/organizing, etc., iPhoto does not allow that.
Picassa, Google’s photo organization tool available on Windows platform, is much much better. Still just as easy to use for the beginner as iPhoto. In fact it’s easier - it’s totally aware of renames, copies, etc. The bummer is that it’s not available on the Mac Platform. It could really give iPhoto a run for its money.
I am definitely going to investigate iPhoto alternatives - perhaps Apeture.
