Another Typical Alaska Day

Peter and I are settling in, getting ready to watch the Super Bowl. However, we did make one tactical error: no chips, guac, and salsa. Augh…

Prior to morphing into Couch Potatoes, we had an active morning. Peter and Tyge went running with the Sunday morning running group. I did the Alaska Ski for Women out at Kincaid Park (recent site of the US National x-c ski championships). As Peter would say, “it was a cold weiner.” About 5 below zero. But the brisk temps didn’t stop the skiers. As always, the costumes were fantastic. The Ski for Women is one of my favorite events and I had a great time. These days, I’m pretty wheezy/wimpy so I was thrilled just to make my way around the course without stopping - a definite achievement! Totally worthy of chips and guac. :-)

Here are some pics from this morning’s activities:

Moose Hieney. This guy had been hanging around in our yard this morning before dawn.

I don’t often see smiles on people’s faces around here when it is -5 degrees and they are outside.

  2. Frankie responds:

Can you get your mitts on some Qiviut for me? You guys have the stronghold on the musk ox…
