Iditarod 2009

Yesterday morning at 8:00 AM, I lay bed, agonizing over whether to get up, get dressed, and get downtown for the start of the Iditarod or just to stay in my nice warm comfy cocoon. At 8:30 AM, I was still vacillating. Finally, I decided that if I was expending so much energy and time in making a decision, I might as well get up and get going.

It was a glorious robin’s egg day: 14 degrees and brilliant sunshine. The dogs were howling and 4th avenue was packed with spectators, officials, handlers, media, and VIPS or rather, folks with VIP passes like myself.

I definitely made the right call.
