Mt. Redoubt Comes Through

After two months of “Will She” or “Won’t She”, Mt. Redoubt finally erupted in a big way last night and early this morning. Unfortunately, the 60,000 foot ash cloud plumed during darkness so none of us got to see it. :-( sigh…

The ash cloud is going to miss Anchorage - which is a good thing. Volcanic Ash totally sucks - very very fine glass and rock grains with a high static electricity component. It sticks to everything. I hate cleaning up after a volcano. The process stretches into months.

For a good time, absolutely visit Mt. Redoubt’s Facebook Page. It is truly funny. Her current status is “booom”.

Here’s the seismograph readings from midnight through 8:00 AM this morning.

I hear she popped again last night?

  2. Steph responds:

Actually Redoubt has been pretty much erupting and belching since the initial eruption. And it could continue for months. :-)
