Kansas Fun

I’m finishing up my quick trip back to Kansas - I really like to spend more time than two days, but my schedule just didn’t work out this time. But I still had a ton of fun at my Science Alumni meetings, checked out old family haunts, and at least yesterday, enjoyed some warm weather: not so much today on the warm and sunny front.

I went running along my old running route both yesterday and today. My route goes by the former homes of both sets of grandparents, so it’s extra special. Plus, I never thought I’d be able to run again, let alone run here, so it makes the experience even better. Sort of a nostalgia blast - in a good way.

I also visited my Grandmother Thompson’s grave out at Oxford and did a geocache at the old Oxford Mill along a lovely wooded shaded creek. I say it every time I visit, but Kansas is truly beautiful.

Here are a few shots of the abandoned mill:

The backyard of my Grandmother Kesler’s house. That arbor was there 50 years ago when I was a baby.

Looks like some much needed renovation work is being done on Grandmother Thompson’s former home.

Kind of cool. I don’t think I’ve ever been to the Kesler house in Kansas.
