Favorite Churchill story:

Churchill and Lady Astor were continually feuding over differences in political philosophy. The feud got very heated on occasion. Lady Astor never missed a chance to try to publicly insult Churchill. And Churchill never let her escape one of these encounters unscathed.

As we know, the good PM enjoyed a stiff drink now and again. At a state dinner, Lady Astor believed she found Sir Winston a bit tipply, and loudly announced, "My dear Prime Minister, I believe you to be quite drunk!"

To which he turned, smiled, bowed and said, "Indeed I am, Lady Astor, and you appear to be quite ugly. However, in the morning, I shall be indisputably sober."

Churchill is one of my favorites.
