It’s been a great weekend. As I type, we’re in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl, Patriots are up by two. It feels like the Pats will win which will make for a very happy Ski Boy. Tyge is very pleased by this year’s commercials, lots of dogs!
UPDATE: As I type, two minutes to […]

This has been a remarkable winter for birds in Anchorage. A Dusky Thrush was blown in from Asia and has spent the winter hanging out with a large flock of Robins in an Anchorage Neighborhood. The Dusky Thrush is the kind of bird that bird watchers go mad for. It’s an accidental in North America […]

Alaska in the winter is very special - particularly this year when we’re in the midst of an absolutely epic winter. We’ve broken the all time record for accumulated snowfall up to this date. Week after week of snow. And when it’s not snowing, it’s 10 to 20 below zero. Except for in December when […]

For years, Peter’s son, Seth has tried to lure Peter to Las Vegas. Finally, the perfect confluence of events occurred: Peter’s 65th birthday and the Las Vegas RocknRoll Half Marathon - a Vegas birthday weekend and a race!
Alix, Seth, Maia, Peter and I all flew in on Friday. It was quite the weekend: fine food […]

Five years ago today at 5:30 PM ADT, the Ski Boy and I were married!!!! I am so lucky - Peter is the best guy in the whole world!!!!
The traditional Fifth Anniversary gift is wood. Serendipitously, the Red Sox are in Seattle this weekend. What better way to celebrate than with the Red Sox wood […]

I have the best Mom in the whole world. Period.
I’m lucky - 52 years of the best mom ever - and still counting.
Here are a few pictures from those 52 years:
My christening. Mom was 21 - and very pretty.
Mom and I when I was around seven years old.
Perhaps my all time favorite picture […]

On Monday the Ski Boy and I visited one of my favorite Sarasota locales, Selby Botantical Gardens, a lush, tropical slice of heaven. Flowers, Banyan trees, birds, butterflies, Palm trees, Mangroves, etc. Definitely just what the doctor ordered after a long cold winter.
I don’t know this flower’s official name, but I think it looks […]

Da Ski Boy and I are in sunny hot Florida - where any ice melts in a nano-second. However, back in Anchorage Mom did a Lagoon status check last night. And she ascertained that Anchorage, AK is not Sarasota, FL - the Lagoon Ice is definitely still in.
You still have time before Midnight April 29th […]

Wow - another blog post! And this time, only a month between posts as opposed to three months.
Peter and I jetted down to San Francisco for a long weekend. The reason was ostensibly baseball, the Red Sox were playing the A’s. But the real reason was, as Songya would say, much bougier: heirloom tomatoes. A […]

The Ice is still with us.
Here’s Mom’s report from last night:
It’s about half rotten ice down toward your end and mostly open water at the east end. Viewed at 8:00 p.m. from the West High overlook.
Sadly, that means that poor Carol has lost for another year. I was so hopeful that this year was her […]
